Illegal Prescriptions

     The illegal use of prescription medication continues to be a problem in Nassau County.  Sheriff Tommy L. Seagraves announced today that narcotics detectives recently arrested two people for selling and possessing illegal prescription pills.

      During an undercover operation on November 17, 2009, detectives purchased ten Oxycodone pills from Myra Pascual Cooley of St. Augustine. They bought more illegal drugs from her on December 1, 2009. At that time, detectives arrested her.

      During an undercover operation on November 18, 2009, narcotics detectives bought 25 Oxycodone pills from William Gerrard Hare of Jacksonville. They purchased more illegal prescription medication from him on December 1, 2009 and arrested him at that time.

     Ms. Cooley and Mr. Hare were together in the Target parking lot, 463737 State Road 200, in Yulee when they were arrested. Detectives found more than 750 prescription pills including Oxycodone and Xanax in their car.

     Both suspects were charged with two counts of selling illegal drugs, two counts of trafficking drugs and one count of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. Ms. Cooley and Mr. Hare are currently being held in the Nassau County Detention Center. The bond for each is set at more than $80,000.

Sheriffs Arrest Three for Crack Cocaine

Narcotics detectives with the Nassau County Sheriff's Office arrested three people on February 17, 2010 for manufacturing and possessing crack cocaine with the intent to sell. They arrested Christopher Ian Clyburn, 22 of Yulee, Kevin Terral Lee, 29 of Fernandina Beach, and Michael Wayne Maddox, 21 of Fernandina Beach.

Detectives executed a search warrant at 314 South 5th Street in Fernandina Beach. They found several items in the home including crack cocaine, materials used to manufacture the drug, cash and prescription pills. They found an old stove in the backyard with two beakers of crack cocaine in it.


Detectives also searched vehicles on the property and found two weapons, an SKS assault rifle and .38 caliber revolver.

They were told Mr. Clyburn, Mr. Lee and Mr. Maddox stored and sold drugs out of the vehicles. The suspects also kept weapons in them.


All three men face several charges including trafficking and manufacturing cocaine and possession of a controlled substance, marijuana and crack with the intent to sell.

They are currently being held in the Nassau County Detention Center.

Mr. Clyburn’s bond is set at
$67,512. Mr. Lee’s is set at $62,512. The bond for Mr. Maddox is more than $80,800.
